A Wedding at Hollins House in Santa Cruz

Hollins House at Pasatiempo Golf Club sits in the hills above Santa Cruz with sweeping views of Monterey Bay. This Spanish style estate gives couples a setting that blends coastal ease with classic California elegance. Terracotta patios, vine covered walls, oak shaded lawns, and golden hour views across the bay make Hollins House one of the most photogenic venues on the Central Coast.

The day started in the bright bridal suite inside Hollins House. Soft natural light filled the room and created the perfect backdrop for candid, emotional getting ready moments. I moved between film and digital throughout the morning to capture the details that matter: heirloom jewelry, handwritten vows, and quiet hugs with family. Meanwhile, the groom and his groomsmen got ready nearby. The layout at Hollins House let me move easily between both spaces and document each side of the story without anyone feeling rushed.

The couple chose the lawn overlooking the golf course and the bay for their ceremony. Guests sat under towering oaks while the coastline stretched out behind the couple. The sea breeze caught the bride’s veil as they exchanged vows, and laughter moved through the crowd. These small unscripted moments are exactly what I love to capture.

After the ceremony, we explored the grounds for portraits. Hollins House offers endless photo ready spots: the grand stone staircase, ivy draped balconies, and open fairways lit by the setting sun. I shot this wedding on both film and digital, which gave the couple a mix of crisp modern images and dreamy film frames. A dedicated post highlighting the film photography from this day is coming soon, so stay tuned if you want to see how film looks at Hollins House.

The reception moved onto the patio under string lights, then into the ballroom for dancing late into the night. The Hollins House staff handled every transition smoothly, which let the couple relax and stay present. I documented the genuine moments throughout the evening: hugs, toasts, first dances, and the small glances between guests that become lifelong memories.

Hollins House stands out as one of the top wedding venues in Santa Cruz because it combines sweeping views, elegant architecture, and warm hospitality. The layout works for intimate gatherings and larger guest lists alike, and the mix of indoor and outdoor spaces makes it versatile in any season. Sunset light across the golf course makes it especially photogenic for evening portraits.

If you’re planning a wedding at Hollins House or anywhere along the Central Coast, I’d love to help you plan your photography. I shoot in a documentary style with candid moments and editorial portraits, delivered in a mix of film and digital for a timeless look.
